A 32-year-old North Charleston man was arrested Tuesday, Nov. 3, on a felony child exploitation charge that carries up to 10 years in prison.

Connor Burslem faces one count of sexual exploitation of a minor, third degree (§16-15-410), according to a press release from the South Carolina Attorney General's Office. Investigators allege Burslem possessed files of child sexual abuse material.

Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force investigators with the Charleston County Sheriff's Office made the arrest. Live 5 News also reported on the case.

The investigation began after investigators received a CyberTipline report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), according to the Attorney General's Office.

South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson announced the arrest. Wilson stressed that all defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.

Multiple agencies assisted with the investigation. The Attorney General's Office, the Summerville Police Department, the Charleston Police Department and Homeland Security Investigations all participated as members of the state's ICAC Task Force, according to the press release.

The Attorney General's Office will prosecute the case. Bond information and Burslem's detention status were not included in the announcement.
