A North Charleston woman died Friday, Oct. 23, after a pickup truck struck her car head-on on Carner Avenue. The Charleston County Coroner's Office identified the victim on Tuesday, Oct. 27, as Laura Stroman, 61, of North Charleston.

Stroman died at the scene from blunt force injuries, the coroner's office said, according to Live 5 News.

Dominic Jack McGrath of Summerville is charged with reckless homicide in connection with the crash.

The crash happened on Carner Avenue near Rivers Avenue shortly before 7:30 a.m. North Charleston police officers responded and found two vehicles involved in the collision, according to Lt. Anthony King, as reported by Live 5 News.

Stroman had been driving on Carner Avenue when a pickup truck traveling in the opposite direction crashed into her, according to an incident report cited by the Post and Courier. The pickup had crossed nearly all the way over the double yellow center lines before the collision, North Charleston police told the Post and Courier.

The Post and Courier reported that detectives believe McGrath had been speeding before the crash. The paper also reported that the North Charleston Police Department's initial investigation found McGrath was speeding and "crossed the centerline to collide with another vehicle."

McGrath stayed at the crash site and was arrested at the scene, according to the incident report cited by the Post and Courier. He was booked into the Al Cannon Detention Center.

A judge granted McGrath $250,000 bail on Saturday, Oct. 24. He posted bail the morning of Monday, Oct. 26, according to online inmate records cited by the Post and Courier.

The crash shut down Carner Avenue for about three hours, the Post and Courier reported. The Charleston County Sheriff's Office Traffic Unit and the coroner's office are assisting North Charleston police with the investigation, Count on 2 reported.

The investigation remains open. Anyone with information about the crash can contact the North Charleston Police Department.
