Michael Reidenbach will oversee safety, transportation and facilities across Charleston County School District as the new deputy chief operating officer.
The appointment puts a nearly 13-year CCSD veteran in charge of operations that directly affect North Charleston campuses including North Charleston High School and R.B. Stall High School. Reidenbach will work alongside Chief Operating Officer Jeff Borowy to manage capital construction, facilities maintenance, security and emergency management, transportation and nutrition services, according to a district announcement.
Reidenbach joined CCSD in 2013 as a campus safety coordinator. He rose through progressively senior roles, serving as interim security officer, director and executive director of security and emergency management, and most recently associate of security and emergency management.
During that time, he led the deployment of the Centegix wearable panic button system across 90 CCSD schools and offices. He also developed comprehensive emergency operations plans and built partnerships with local law enforcement to improve emergency preparedness.
Superintendent Anita Huggins praised Reidenbach in the announcement, saying he has earned widespread respect across the district and understands how operations support classroom work.
"… He has earned the respect of our principals, staff, and community partners because he listens, follows through, and genuinely cares about doing what's best for our schools," Borowy said in the announcement.
Before joining CCSD, Reidenbach served in law enforcement with the Mount Pleasant Police Department and Clemson University Police Department. He holds a Master of Public Administration from Clemson University and the University of South Carolina and a bachelor's degree in communication studies from Clemson.
He received CCSD's Meritorious Service Award in 2024 and was named a finalist for Campus Safety magazine's K-12 Security Director of the Year in 2022.
The district did not announce a start date. Reidenbach's new portfolio covers the operational systems supporting all 90-plus CCSD campuses.
