The Dorchester County Sheriff's Office is investigating after human remains were found Wednesday morning, Nov. 4, in the 300 block of Dorchester Manor Boulevard in North Charleston.
The discovery was reported at approximately 10:34 a.m., according to the sheriff's office.
The agency's Criminal Investigations Division and Crime Scene Unit responded to the scene and are conducting an active death investigation, the sheriff's office said.
There is no known threat to the community, according to the agency. Residents in the area should expect an increased law enforcement presence and are advised to avoid the scene while the investigation continues.
No additional details about the remains or the circumstances surrounding their discovery were immediately available, WCBD News 2 reported.
